Day 1: Thursday, March 21st- Depart the US

Depart from the US for Cape Town

Day 2: Friday, March 22nd- Arrive in Cape Town

Accommodations: Radisson Blu Waterfront – Premier Class Sea Facing Room 

 

Welcome to South Africa!  Group transfers to our hotel to settle in will be arranged once we receive the flight manifest of all guests.  Please note that there will be 1-2 pickup times that will be selected to accommodate as many guests as possible, however guests arriving out these times will be responsible for making their own arrangements to the hotel.  

 

The rest of the day is yours to explore the city or simply relax, and we will have an optional welcome dinner at 7pm.

Day 3: Saturday, March 23rd- Cape Town  (B)

​

Robben Island Tour

A 4hr guided tour of where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18yrs.

​

Stellenbosch Winelands 

We will spend the afternoon exploring the winelands region with a wine cellar tour and wine tasting.

​

The evening is at your leisure.

​

Day 4: Sunday, March 24th- Cape Town  (B,L)

 

Full Day Peninsula Tour

After breakfast we will experience a full day Peninsula tour which will include stops at: ​

​

• Chapman's Peak Drive

• Cape of Good Hope

• Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach

​

Lunch is included and the evening is at your leisure.

​

 

Day 5: Monday, March 25th- Travel to Hoedspruit  (B,L,D)

Accommodations: Kapama Game Reserve River Lodge – Standard Suite w/ the ability to upgrade to a Spa Suite.

 

Today the group will enjoy breakfast at the hotel then travel to the airport for our flight to Hoedspruit.  After landing in Hoedspruit, we will be transported to our Game Reserve to settle in.

 

Later in the afternoon, we will meet for a decadent high tea before heading out on our afternoon game drive through the reserve.  This is a Big Live property so be prepared to see lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and rhinoceros.

Lunch and Dinner is included.

Day 6: Tuesday, March 26th- Hoedspruit  (B,L,D)

​

Full Day Safari

Be prepared for an early start, as we will head out out on a game drive at first light. Halfway through the game drive we will stop for snacks before returning to the lodge for a full breakfast.

​

The afternoon is at your leisure.

​

At around 3:30pm we will meet for high tea before departing on our evening game drive.  En route, we will stop and have a chance to stretch our legs as we watch the sun set over the distant peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains.  We will arrive back to the lodge around 7pm, giving everyone time to freshen up before dinner.

Day 7: Wednesday, March 27th- Travel to Johannesburg (B)

Accommodations: Four Seasons the Westcliff – Garden View Deluxe Room

​

Panoramic Route Overland to Johannesburg

Breakfast at the lodge and then group will set out on a glorious panoramic route taking in spectacular scenery on our way to Johannesburg.  Some of the highlights of the tour are:

• Blyde River Canyon, the third largest in the world

• Bourke's Luck Potholes, an extraordinary rock formation

• God's Window, a boundless view of forested mountains and fertile plains

• Gradkop Gorge, a lift will take us 167ft down the face of the gorge into the forest below where wooden walkways and suspensions bridges meander along a half mile trail through the forest with interactive exhibits.

​

Late in the afternoon we will arrive in Johannesburg, where the rest of the day and evening will be at your leisure.

Day 8: Thursday, March 28th- Johannesburg  (B)

​

Soweto Tour

Breakfast at the hotel and then group will be begin our morning tour to Soweto.  Soweto, an acronym for South Western Township, is home to over 2 million people that display a strong sense of community though they live in crowded conditions.

​

Our day begins at the Hector Pieterson Museum  where we will learn the history that led to devastating riots before traveling to Nelson Mandela's birth home.  Our final stop will be at the Regina Mundi Church, the location of many of the underground meetings of the then banned political parties in South Africa.

​

The afternoon and evening are at your leisure.

Day 9: Friday, March 29th- Travel to Victoria Falls (B)

Accommodation: Victoria Falls Club – Club Room

​

Today the group will enjoy breakfast at the hotel then travel to the airport for our flight to Victoria Falls.  After landing, we will be transported to our hotel on the Zimbabwe side of the falls.

 

Sunset Cruise

In the late afternoon, we will enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi Explorer.  A great vantage point to watch hippo, crocodiles, and other animals that come down to the river's edge in the early evening.

Day 10: Saturday, March 30th- Victoria Falls (B,D)

 

Morning Falls Tour & Mpisi Village Tours

The group will enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then set out on a morning tour of the falls.  Victoria falls is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and as we tour the Zimbabwean side of the falls you will quickly know why.

​

As we continue the tour, we will visit the Mpisi Village to get insight into the daily lives of the Matabele people.  We will return to the hotel in the afternoon, and the rest of the day is at your leisure.

​

In the evening, we will conclude the trip with our 4 course, Foreign Exchange South Africa farewell dinner at the Boma Restaurant.  The Boma restaurant specializes in a superb selection of traditional Zimbabwean dishes.

​

Day 11: Sunday, March 31st- Depart Victoria Falls back to Johannesburg (B)

Breakfast at the hotel and spend the day at leisure until we depart to the airport for our flight back to Johannesburg, which lands at 3:05pm.  Guests will then depart on their international flights back to the US, which we do not recommend departing before 7pm.

Day 12: Monday, April 1st- Land back in the US
